Classic technique. Swedish Ski Association rules apply. Taking your skis off and walking on the course is not allowed.

Participants in Öppet Spår don’t need to be members of a Swedish ski club. If you are a ski club member and want to represent your club, the club must be registered with the Swedish Ski Association.

Pole rules

The length of your ski pole is an individual choice, but there is a rule limiting the maximum length to 83 percent of your height, while wearing ski boots. Measure according to image.

You can measure your ski poles outside the Trade Fair in Mora and by the number bib tents at the starts in Sälen and Oxberg.

Time penalty for littering in the Vasaloppet Arena

It is allowed to throw garbage in three different ways during Vasaloppet’s Winter Week, you will be caught by throwing debris otherwise you may be penalized with a time penalty of 15 minutes. You must throw litter:

  • In the bins at the Vasaloppet checkpoints.
  • In the marked littering zones between each Vasaloppet checkpoint.
  • Where you as a participant know that a team leader or associate will pick up what you throw.

A competitor will automatically be disqualified if he/she participates in the competition under false pretences such as starting under false name/with false timing chip or practice any unsportsmanlike behaviour. The Race Director and/or Race Secretary have authority to disqualify, penalize or ban from participation if evidence of rule infraction is submitted after the race is completed and after the Jury has finished their work.

Getting to the start

Once in place at the event you can take the Vasaloppet busses to the start and back home after your finish. With the busses you’re guaranteed to arrive well rested and on time, and you can leave your car at home. Tickets are sold at vasaloppet.se, in Vasaloppet’s House, at the bus entrances, and at the race offices in Sälen and Mora. We recommend advance booking to secure your place!

Waxing service

Through Vasaloppet’s official wax services you can get your skis waxed before the race. You’ll find us at the Vasaloppet Trade Fair in Mora and at the start in Berga by, Sälen. Vasaloppet’s wax services can be booked in advance, though the number of pre-bookings is limited.

Vasaloppstrippeln, the Vasaloppet trifecta, is a challenge where participants complete three 90-kilometre Vasaloppet races during one calendar year.
