Classic technique. Participants may only ski for one team and only one section. Swedish Ski Association rules apply. Taking your skis off and walking on the course is not allowed. Participants in Stafettvasan don’t need to be members of a Swedish ski club.
The length of your ski pole is an individual choice, but there is a rule limiting the maximum length to 83 percent of your height, while wearing ski boots. Measure according to image.
You can measure your ski poles outside the Trade Fair in Mora and by the number bib tents at the starts in Sälen and Oxberg.
Time penalty for littering in the Vasaloppet Arena
It is allowed to throw garbage in three different ways during Vasaloppet’s Winter Week, you will be caught by throwing debris otherwise you may be penalized with a time penalty of 15 minutes. You must throw litter:
- In the bins at the Vasaloppet checkpoints.
- In the marked littering zones between each Vasaloppet checkpoint.
- Where you as a participant know that a team leader or associate will pick up what you throw.
A competitor will automatically be disqualified if he/she participates in the competition under false pretences such as starting under false name/with false timing chip or practice any unsportsmanlike behaviour. The Race Director and/or Race Secretary have authority to disqualify, penalize or ban from participation if evidence of rule infraction is submitted after the race is completed and after the Jury has finished their work.
Getting to the start
The registration fee includes bus transportation for participants on sections 1 and 2. Ticket booking is mandatory and done on the page The Vasaloppet busses.
Book your ticket on the page Traffic and transport.
Several transport logistic changes have been made in order to avoid crowding and to make things easier for participants. Regardless of where participants are coming from, Sälen or Mora, one car is needed per team. We recommend everyone to park their car in Terminal Oxberg and to take busses from there to the various exchanges. The participation fee covers all bus transport. For sections 1 and 2, bus booking is mandatory and can be made through the link below. Driving to the Hökberg exchange is no longer permitted and the Spjutmodammen crossing is completely closed to car traffic. To read more detailed information regarding transport logistics, see the link below.
More information about traffic during Stafettvasan can be found on the page Traffic and transport.
Through Vasaloppet’s official wax services you can get your skis waxed before the race. You’ll find us at the Vasaloppet Trade Fair in Mora and at the start in Berga by, Sälen. Vasaloppet’s wax services can be booked in advance, though the number of pre-bookings is limited.
