Welcome to Vasastafetten
Your running event begins in Berga by in Sälen. Start envelopes with start numbers and information letters are sent to the team leader approximately two weeks before the event. The timing chip is picked up on race day at the Vasaloppet start, Sälen. Teams that have not received start envelopes sent to the team leader pick these up at the race office in Mora in the days before the event, or on race day at the Vasaloppet start in Sälen.
The registration fee includes bus transport for participants on legs 1 and 2. Bus tickets to the start for leg 1 must be booked. Please note that runners on leg 2 must take the organizer’s bus to Smågan. After that, the teams handles its own transports.
Teams are responsible for transport of change clothes and outer garments. A tip is to give your outer garments to the person you’re handing over to!
The start goes jointly at 08.00. The start corrals open at 07.30 and whoever runs the first leg should be in place in the corral no later than 07.55.
At the handovers, the timing chip functions as a relay baton. It’s worn as a band around the wrist and handed over to the participant on the next leg at the handover checkpoints.
During the nine Swedish miles on historic Vasaloppsmark, the team passes a total of seven checkpoints where you can refuel with drinks and energy. In addition, there are fluids, sports drinks and water approximately every five kilometers. Toilets and medical personnel are available at all checkpoints.
Several events take place simultaneously and when elite runners and recreational runners run side by side, good cooperation between runners is important. The basic rule is: Keep right, pass on the left.
When the runner on the final leg glimpses the church tower in Mora, the home stretch is approaching! Then it’s time for the rest of the team to gather so you can celebrate together at the finish and receive your well-earned medals. When you’re ready, simply take the free bus to the showers at Prästholmens IP. After that, you can return to the finish and pick up your diplomas and continue celebrating with all the other runners.
Every finish is a victory. We’ll see you on the course!

Due to security reasons and time constraints there is a time restriction at exchange checkpoint Evertsberg.
There will be a joint restart for teams who have not then completed their exchange, after approval by the checkpoint managers. Time will be announced by the speaker.
For the same reasons a joint restart can also be called at other exchange checkpoints. After restarting, the team continues as participants in the competition and will get a total result.
| Checkpoint | Restart |
|---|---|
| Evertsberg | approx 14.00 |
Sometimes things don’t go as planned. It’s completely okay not to finish.
The team may restart at the next section and continue the race, though without competing. Participants will still get times for their sections.
Safety first:
Rescue and medical personnel have the right to remove participants from the course if they deem it necessary.
Vasastafetten has a leisure class, where each team can have two to ten participants and a free number of ladies and gentlemen.
One person may run multiple sections.
Time penalty for littering in the Vasaloppet Arena
It is allowed to throw garbage in three different ways during Vasaloppet’s Summer Week. If you will be caught by throwing debris otherwise you may be penalized with a time penalty of 15 minutes.
You must throw litter:
- in the bins at the Vasaloppet checkpoints. It is also allowed at two controls more, Gopshus and Läde, where you are allowed to throw garbage
- in the marked littering zones between each Vasaloppet checkpoint
- where you as a participant know that a team leader or associate will pick up what you throw.
