Vasaloppsspåret winds its way through the beautiful nature reserve of the Vasaloppet Arena, from Sälen in the west to Mora in the east, past the famous checkpoints. The route consists of three trails that are available all year round. Vasaloppsleden for hiking or running, Cykelvasaleden for cycling, and, during the winter months, Vasaloppsspåret with its ninety kilometres of cross-country ski tracks.

The Vasaloppet Arena

During both winter and summer it is important to stick to the marked trails when moving along the route. In certain places the trails differ slightly from the tracks of the Vasaloppet races, so you cannot cycle, run or hike exactly the same stretches as during the events. We ask everyone to be aware that track maintenance may occur!

Ski tracks during the winter months

Vasaloppsspåret is open for skiers all winter and, if there is enough snow, tracks are laid between Sälen and Mora before every weekend between December and March.

Our work during the winter months is always focused towards optimizing the conditions for Vasaloppet’s Winter Week. This means that some long-term decisions may be taken based on the effect on the track quality during the events, which means that tracks may not always be laid early in the season.

Which stretch costs money?

Vasaloppet makes the tracks between Berga by (Sälen) and Eldris, and for this stretch there is no fee. Mora municipality manages the stretch between Eldris and the Zorn Museum in Mora. This stretch has lighting and comes with a fee. Mora municipality’s track cards are sold in the reception of the Mora indoor swimming pool, and online. During the events Vasaloppet takes over management of the whole route.

Skiing during Vasaloppet’s Winter Week

During the arrangements, all ski tracks are open for training. However, it is important to be considerate and to watch out for race participants, so that one does not get in the way. For training it is best to choose sections of the track where no competition is in progress.
