Vasaloppet Arena open for summer 2025

Since mid-May, the Vasaloppet Arena has been open for hiking and running. The 90 km Vasaloppsleden trail partially follows the Vasaloppet race course and features plenty of scenic rest stops. A total of nine overnight cabins are available at eight locations along the trail.

In the 90-kilometre-long Vasaloppet Arena, you can hike, run and cycle. Due to reconstruction work on the Vasaloppsvägen road in 2025, access between Sälen and Oxberg will be affected.

Work in the Vasaloppet Arena takes place year-round. Right now, the focus is on preparations for Vasaloppet’s Summer Week, August 8–16, 2025, including clearing brush, repairing wooden decking, and general maintenance of the cycling and running trails.

Due to roadworks on the Vasaloppsvägen road, the Cykelvasan trail is closed between Tennäng and Evertsberg – about 17 km – until August 7, 2025. This section can still be cycled along the main road, but please note that it is under construction and the surface consists of coarse gravel. The Vasaloppsleden hiking trail is not affected along this stretch.

Further west, towards Mora, between Axikvarn and Björnarvet, the Vasaloppsleden trail is closed. Here, hikers and runners can detour via the Cykelvasan trail for about 2 km. The overnight cabin at Axikvarn is still accessible and available for use this summer.

The roadworks along the Vasaloppsvägen road will not affect the race courses during Vasaloppet’s Summer Week 2025.

In Hemus (about 3 km from the finish line in Mora), construction is underway on a new roller ski track. Just follow the signs and you’ll stay on the right path.
